Is this a scam or not?

March 11, 2010

madami na akong narinig na establishments na lumilitaw para lang mangscam.

though hindi ko pa sure kung scammers nga ito( Aim Global inc. particularly in Tuguegarao City) but i hope not. recently i attented one of their business seminar, as they say, wherein lahat ng gstong kumita for part time ay tinatawag.

jump up to the seminar

so on the seminar we talked about having the business..they told us that for only 7980 which is quite big for me ’cause im still a student, we will already be a member of the branch and can decide to be a retailer, ditributor, or a referral. nakakahumaling kung tutuusin ang mga sinasabi nilang benefits kaya madami na ding sumali. hmm i post this blog so that if there are people out there that may help or experienced already their somewhat convenient way of making business, please do comment on this blog.

i hope sa mga members ng aim global..can u plss certify or prove or just say na its safe or sumthing like that.

So, are you a sex addict?

February 25, 2010

-in courtesy of ABS-CBN-

Beware!!! You might be one of them!

MANILA, Philippines - Dr. Patrick Carnes, an internationally known speaker and author on addiction and recovery issues, listed a number of behavior patterns that may indicate the presence of sexual addiction.

Carnes, who has won awards and has written several books on the subject, is the executive director of the Gentle Path Program at Pine Grove Behavioral Health and Addiction Services in Hattiesburg, Mississipi, where Tiger Woods is reportedly receiving treatment for his sex addiction.

He defined sex addiction as “any sexually related, compulsive behavior which interferes with normal living and causes severe stress on family, friends, loved ones, and one’s work environment.”

“Sexual addicts make sex a priority more important than family, friends, and work. Sex becomes the organizing principle of addicts’ lives. They are willing to sacrifice what they cherish most in order to preserve and continue their unhealthy behavior,” Carnes said in SexHelp.com, a website he created.

While an actual diagnosis for sexual addiction should be carried out by a mental health professional, Carnes said the following behavior patterns may be indicative of sexual addiction.

He urged individuals who see any of these patterns in their own life or in others to seek professional help immediately.

1. Out-of-control sexual behavior such as:

compulsive masturbation

indulging in pornography

having chronic affairs

exhibitionism

dangerous sexual practices

prostitution

anonymous sex

compulsive sexual episodes

voyeurism

2. Inability to stop sexual behavior despite knowing its severe consequences such as:

loss of partner or spouse

severe marital or relationship problems

loss of career opportunities

unwanted pregnancies

abortions

suicide obsession

suicide attempts

exposure to AIDS and venereal diseases

legal risks from nuisance offenses to rape

3. Persistent pursuit of self-destructive behavior and an attitude that says, “I’ll deal with the consequences when they come”

4. Ongoing desire or effort to limit sexual behavior (such as moving to a new neighborhood or city, getting married, or buying a car to get distracted)

5. Sexual obsession and fantasy as a primary coping strategy

6. Regularly increasing the amount of sexual experience because the current level of activity is no longer sufficiently satisfying

7. Severe mood changes related to sexual activity

8. Inordinate amounts of time spent obtaining sex, being sexual, and recovering from sexual experiences

9. Neglect of important social, occupational, or recreational activities because of sexual behavior

Aside from these patterns, Carnes’ website also offers a number of tests which he claims can help determine a person’s sexual behavior.

Treatment

Carnes said some treatment programs for sexual addiction include patient, outpatient, after-care support, and self-help groups.

Family counseling programs, support groups, and educational workshops for addicts and their families are also offered, he added.

“Unlike recovering alcholics who must abstain from drinking for life, sexual addicts are led back into a normal, healthy sex life much in the way those suffering from eating disorders must relearn healthy eating patterns,” he said in SexHelp.com.

One of the most popular treatments for sex addicts is the 12-step program as this teaches addicts to take their recovery one day at a time, Carnes said.

Sex Addicts Anonymous, a fellowship of men and women who share their experiences to overcome sex addiction, enumerates the following guiding principles:

1. Admitted we were powerless over addictive sexual behavior — that our lives had become unmanageable

2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity

3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood God

4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves

5. Admitted to God, ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs

6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these effects of character

7. Humbly ask God to remove our shortcomings

8. Made a list of persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all

9. Made direct amends to such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others

10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we are wrong promptly admitted it

11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood God, praying only for knowledge of God’s will for us and the power to carry that out

12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to other sex addicts and to practice these principles in our lives.

But like other types of addicts, Carnes said some sex addicts may never be “cured,” since maintaining their recovery can be a lifelong process.

i post this thinking it would help. :)

EDSA’s History - Dig it!

Who is Epifanio de los Santos and why is the EDSA highway named after him?

Highway 54 -former name of the Epifanio delos Santos Avenue(EDSA). Stretching some 54 kilometers, Highway 54 serves as a lifeline for hundreds of thousands of Filipinos passing or doing business in Metro Manila].

It formed a major part of the circumferential roads in Metro Manila. From the south, it passes through five cities Pasay, Makati, Mandaluyong, Quezon City, and Caloocan. Its southern endpoint is at the rotunda near the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City while its northern point is at Monumento in Caloocan City near the Andres Bonifacio monument.

When the avenue was constructed in 1940 by engineers led by Florencio Moreno and Osmundo L. Monsod, it was first named as North and South Circumferential Road. But at the end of World War II, the American occupiers changed the name to Highway 54.

Epifanio delos Santos, also known as “Don Panyong” was a lawyer, journalist, historian, philosopher, bibliophile, biographer, painter, poet, musician, literary critic, antique collector, and librarian. He was born April 7, 1871 in Malabon, Rizal province. He was a member of the Malolos Congress, and served as fiscal of Nueva Ecija.

At the time of his death on April 18, 1928 at the age 57, he was the director of the National Library and National Museum. His assistant then, the late Senate President Eulogio Rodriguez, was a prime mover in renaming Highway 54 to EDSA, but he died before his dream was realized.

It was Juan Francisco Sumulong, a lawmaker from Rizal province and a classmate from his law school days at the University of Santo Tomas, who continued the campaign. “There are praiseworthy sons of the province. Why are we always borrowing from the honor of others?” Sumulong asked.

In between name changes, the Americans wanted it called (Gen Douglas) McArthur Highway, supporters of the late President Ramon Magsaysay wanted it named after him, while loyalists of Rizal fought for 19 de Junio, the national hero’s birthday.

EDSA won, supported by a number of associations including the Philippines Historical Committee, Philippines Historical Association, Philippines Library Association, Association of University and College Professors, Philippine China Cultural Association, and Philippine National Historical Society.

But in 1959, by virtue of Republic Act 2140, the highway was renamed in honor of Epifanio de los Santos, a famous statesman of the province of Rizal.

Court indefinitely suspends Ampatuan multiple murder trial

MANILA, Philippines – The Quezon City Regional Trial Court indefinitely suspended the multiple murder hearing of Maguindanao massacre prime suspect Andal Ampatuan Jr. pending the resolution of several motions filed by both the prosecution and defense panels.

Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes has yet to resolve a number of motions filed before her court, including the motion to admit amended information, motion for recusation, motion to defer proceedings and motion to admit supplemental recusation.

Assistant chief state prosecutor Richard Anthony Fadullon said they have not received a copy of the motion of admit supplemental recusation (inhibition) filed by defense lawyer Sigfrid Fortun.

“We have not received any motion that’s why we requested the court that the defense furnish us copies in their future motions,” Fadullon told reporters right after the hearing was adjourned.

He added that the prosecution panel has only been replying and commenting on the motions filed by the defense before the court.

On their motion to admit amended information, which included 196 more respondents to the murder case, Fadullon said they do not know how the people will act, as some may also ask for a petition for bail while others may appeal the case.

Fadulllon said they have not been able to present their witnesses since Feb. 10 when the judge suspended the hearing.

During this morning’s hearing held at Camp Crame, Quezon City, Justice Secretary Agnes Devanadera was present to check on how both the state and private prosecutors have been handling the case.

“The prosecution is very well on the track. I’m satisfied,” Devanadera said.

The court previously deferred the proceedings for two days to give time to the defense panel to look over the motion filed by the prosecution to add more respondents.

A prosecution lawyer said all the motions before the court could be resolved within two weeks. - By Dennis Carcamo (Philstar News Service, www.philstar.com)
